Creative Young People Wanted!
The Annual Conference Diversity Team would like to invite all children and youth in celebrating their contribution to the Conference by asking them to design a creative logo for the 2007 Annual Conference! This is a very short contest because the logo must be in to Nancy Butterfield by the end of October so all logo submissions must arrive at Grace United Methodist Church, 4905 E. Yale Avenue by October 24th. The Annual Conference Diversity Committee will make a decision on the winning entry on October 25th. The Theme of the next Annual Conference is "Making the Invisible, Visible" with subtitles of Embracing Diversity, Racial Acceptance and Celebrating Inclusiveness. The logo must fit on a 8 1/2" piece of paper allowing for enough space for theme, subtitles and 2007 Annual Conference of the Rocky Mountain Conference of the United Methodist Church. Please submit on black drawing on white paper. This logo goes on all the bags, name tags and all the registration and informational materials for the 2007 Annual Conference. If you have any questions please call Leaan Williams at 303-377-1454. Thanks! Cannot wait to see your fantastic artwork!

Global Young People's Convocation and Legislative Assembly To Gather Johannesburg, South Africa, December 28, 2006 - January 1, 2007 http://www.gbod.org/youngpeople/connected/global/default.html

The Global Young People’s Convocation & Legislative Assembly is a gathering of United Methodist Youth, Young Adult and Adult Workers with Young People from around the world. This will be a place where 500 United Methodist young people from all across the world will come together to share, learn and connect. It looks like a wonderful opportunity to get a glimpse of the global United Methodist Church and to learn how the Spirit is moving amongst young people all over the world. Visit the website (above) to learn more about the event.

Rocky Mountain Conference can send one young adult delegate, who together with the delegates identified by the other seven annual conferences in the Western Jurisdiction, will decide who among those selected will serve as voting delegates. Each of these eight young adult delegates will have room and board provided (the WJ planning group decided to use a model proposed by the WJ youth council: whereby the travel stipends available for voting delegates will be pooled to cover room and board for all eight WJ young adults), but all eight individuals (with their annual conferences) will have to come up with the cost of travel to Johannesburg. Rocky Mountain Conference will provide some travel stipend, but the amount is still to be determined.

SO... if you are interested in representing Rocky Mountain Conference and the Western Jurisdiction in Johannesburg over New Year's this year, here's what we need you to do:

Send us, by email or regular mail, your typed answers to the following questions, with your name, birthdate, contact information (including phone number), and local church affiliation at the top:

1. Name why you are a member of the United Methodist Church. What makes you proud of the United Methodist tradition? What do you wish you could change in the United Methodist tradition?

2. What are some of the ways in which you exhibit leadership in your life?

3. Why do you want to serve as our Conference's representative to the Global Young People's Convocation and Legislative Assembly?

4. Is there anything that might get in the way of your attendance at this event?

5. You will be representing the Rocky Mountain Conference at this event. How will you listen to the needs and yearnings of the youth and young adults of this conference between now and December? Develop a plan and share it with us.

6. Share your plan for your return. How will you be reporting your findings and learnings back to the Conference once you return?

Maximum length: 3 pages, single-spaced. Send your application by email to kerry@rmcumc.com or to RMCUMC Young Adult Ministries, 6110 Greenwood Plaza Blvd, Greenwood Village, CO 80111.

PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION BY APRIL 25TH, 2006 so that we can review all applications in a timely manner. The review team consists of Brian Riecke, Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries for RMC, and members of the Conference Council on Young Adults. We hope to make our decision by the first week of May.

Please contact Kerry Greenhill (kerry@rmcumc.com or 303-325-7053) if you have any questions.
